Kind Deeds is Minigame based RPG game which have pixel art style graphics. The game was made for our client, The Singapore Kindness Movement, to spread awareness of their theme for the year "Kindness it's up to us".

The game was made for one of our module and for our client (Singapore Kindness Movement). The purpose of our game is to spread the theme for the year which was "Kindness, It's up to us". Having said that, as the designer of the team, I have decided to go with a mini-game and story based RPG game with pixel art style graphics in order to get the message across more effectively as games with story tends to help convey the message better.

Being the producer of the team I have decided to make the main game-play of the game to be mini-games as it will allow us to downscale or upscale if needed so as to be able to meet the deadlines. I have also went with pixel art style as it will be easier on our artist to make huge amount of assets easily while still stay appealing to the players.

Level Design:
Throughout this project, multiple level designs were made for various purposes such as to test out different game mechanics and for the general flow of the game.

As you can see the level design of the game have changed drastically throughout the entirety of the project. The first level was made in a very simple way as we were testing out our basic game mechanics and to see if it will work out. From there we started making our levels bigger so as to fit all the needed mini-games and also made changes based off the feedback received from the game testers.

Story / Main Idea
The most important requirement that we wanted the game to meet is that the game is able to convey this year's Singapore Kindness Movement's theme which was "Kindness, it's up to us".

In order to do so, we have decided that having a game with a story and
having the player feel like he is in the environment would be most effective
in conveying messages. Hence from there we have made a basic storyline
where you play as a student who is on his way home from school. Along
the way he will encounter different strangers which requires help. The
player can then decide if he wants to help or to ignore the stranger. Which
is complementing this year's message which was "Kindness, it's up to us"
as it shows that it is up to the player whether he wants to help them or not.
From there we worked our main game mechanics of the game where the
ending will change depending on how many strangers the player have
decided to help, rewarding the player for each stranger he have helped.
This is because I felt that the reason why many people aren't helping
others is because to them, it makes no difference to them while causing a
mild inconvenience to them. Hence what I want to bring across in the game
is to show to the player than while it does not cause any different to the person helping, it might have meant a lot to the person getting helped even if it was a simple action. To do that we have decided that we wanted to show the player that what they did actually makes a difference and to remind them that kindness is always up to us.
