3D Modelling Experiences
For this 3D modelling project the criteria was that we were to model a weapon.I have decided to choose to model Excalibur from the Anime “Fate/stay night”.Being a popular anime there were plenty of reference pictures that I could reference from as i made the model

On the left you can see that the model is relatively simple as it contains low amount of polygons and only 5 different models put together to form the Excalibur. In the picture on the right you can also see that the unused faces such as the ones on the ornament/bottom of the blade is removed for optimization.

As for the texturing I have started out by texturing the different parts of the sword using separate Targa files. This gave me more control on the textures for each individual piece. Once completed I have placed all the textured needed into one Targa file so as to ‘optimise’ the asset by reducing the size of the file.

The whole model is made with 3 seperate Targa files, The base texture, Normal map and specular map. Each Targa textures give different effects to the sword making it look more realistic.

Besides the weapon which I have modeled above I have also modeled various furniture and objects in an indoor environment.

For this project we were required to model the interior of an indoor environment and to work in a group of 3 to 4. On the left you can see the models in which I have modeled for this assignment.

One of the more interesting part of this project was that I learn how to add reflections to the models through the use of the internet. By using raycast to render the reflections this allows the model to reflect their surroundings accurately depending on what is around them and the shape of the model. As you can see in the picture the reflection in the left most gas cylinder is slightly different from the reflection of the gas cylinder on the right
